finding and joining a free host service

Like the old saying ” no money no candy” getting a free hosting service like www.stormpages.com might not be the right solution if you plan on developing a business website. A free host is a good choice if you build sites like:

• Personal website, where you put your pictures, what you like, etc…
• Work that you would like to access over the internet: school work, data sheets,etc…
• Free space to store data, text, pictures, etc…
• Fun site
• etc…

Free host is also good for first timer in website developement. The main reasons are that you cannot have your own domain name. You will be getting a domain name like www.theirdomainname.com/yourusername or www.yourusername.theirdomainname.com. So it doesn’t look serious and professional at all. not that the site cannot be good, it is just that for business it is not really appropriate because for a user point of view it is hard to build trust in a company that doesn’t even own its name. It appears more like a scam. The webmaster of a free host is not required personal informations, so a lot of scams are originated from these type of business on free host.

Free hosts offer minimum service, no software, no search engines submission, no help. So you are basicaly on your own. Getting a ranking with the major search engines is almost zero, so it is hard to generate traffic.

But like I said, This can be a good idea if you are building your first website and want to learn the basics of website management.
