The search engines has been known to reward blogs who are reputable and are of quality with free endless stream of new visitors everyday, however, what about blog owners in the other end who aren’t as reputable, and are not the brightest of SEO?

8 Reasons Why Your Blog Isn’t Seeing Search Engine Results

Don’t worry, it isn’t like the search engines single handily pick out blogs that they simply don’t like. The search engine’s objective is to display the most relevant, popularized results for a certain search term, and they will do just that.

You don’t have fresh, valuable, handwritten content to offer.

Your site is new.

Your not link building enough.

Your not considering on-page optimization.

Your targeting keywords that are too competitive.

Your not updating your blog like you used to be. Your getting lazy.

You are too impatient and unpredictable.

Site does not follow the webmaster guidelines.

1.) You don’t have fresh, valuable, handwritten content to offer.

Google and any other search engine would agree that they really hate duplicate content that was just copy and pasted off somewhere else because first off, it isn’t helpful, nor is it offering anything new to the table, but just cluttering their search engine results. That is why fresh unique content is important for search engines as well as users whether or not duplicate content penalties exist or not.

2.) Your site is new.

Don’t expect a miracle once you start your website thinking that you would start ranking high immediately. There is a process or should I say a phase that most search engines undergo new websites until they have enough “data” to say, this site offers really good content and respectively rank them higher. This process can take over 1-4 months for the search engines to develop depending on how knowledgeable you are in the SEO field. There is no short cuts in terms of ranking quickly. It is more of a mixture of link building, on-page optimization, and much more, which determines your site’s rankings.

3.) Your not link building enough.

Search engines uses the number and the quality of the links linking to you to emphasize how important a page is to respectively increase their rankings in the search engines. If you are not seeing any significant increase in your search engine rankings, it could be due to the lack of link building. If your site is new, I recommend building links little by little in a continuous stair way pattern that slowly builds up, to ensure that your site doesn’t look “odd” to the search engines. The early stages of a new web site is it’s most vulnerable stage to facing deadly consequences because the search engines has no data or “trust” on your site just yet.

4.) Your not considering on-page optimization.

We don’t want to start a whole body paragraph on on-page optimization due to the fact that we already made a post on the 14 Effective Search Engine Optimization Tips regarding on-page optimization. Follow these tips and we promise that you will see improvement.

5.) Your targeting keywords that are too competitive.

If you just started your blog just a few days ago, don’t expect to be ranking even somewhat close for the keyword “Make Money Online” or any other money keyword. Slowly devour smaller keywords and build from the bottom up because remember, if your site is still in it’s early stages, the search engines are still trying to gather enough information on your website to rank them respectively. So until then, it may be hard to rank until the later stages where you can build more links without worrying about getting any “odd” penalization.

6.) Your not updating your blog like you used to be. Your getting lazy.

Don’t forget that search engines are here to give your content exposure, and if you stop giving content, they will stop giving your site exposure as well. Readily updating your site, even if it is a minor change, at least once a month is a given.

7.) You are too impatient and unpredictable.

Your simply unpredictable when it comes to committing to your website. It can be discouraging at first due to the fact that having a website on it’s early stages, it can be hard to rank, but after the initial stages, it pays off. If you aren’t the type of person who can commit without even having the slightest incentive to motivate you for the first few months, then perhaps search engine optimization isn’t the right job for you.

8.) Site does not follow the webmaster guidelines.

Ensuring that your website follows Google’s webmaster guidelines is a must if you want to get into good hands with Google. If you won’t compile to their guidelines, then you will simply not be listed in Google’s index. They take quality seriously and you should too if you want to rank well. Put everything into that one site and show them what your made out of in terms of building a quality reputable site from scratch.

Knowing When Pop-Ups Can Harm Sales

There are 3 reasons why I like using pop-ups, and 3 reasons why I don’t like to use pop-ups. Currently, you might have seen that our blog use a WordPress plugin called the Action pop-up, personally, I don’t really like it. To be honest, who likes pop-ups anyways right? If it weren’t for the purpose of increasing sales, leads, I would have deactivated that plugin like it was no other. (seriously) Pop-ups are like those pop-up Christmas cards I get every year. They are only for a one time use to only surprise the other person for the first time, but after that, it can be overly annoying when visiting your favorite web page even if it is just a click of a ‘X’ button.

The Reasons Why I Like Pop-Ups

Increase audience focus on a particular page.

Increase sales and conversions.

Gives readers something to look at when first entering a page.

The Reasons Why I Don’t like Pop-Ups

They can be annoying if your a returning viewer.

Webmasters sometimes use them to the “excessive” point.

It looks ugly. (My preference)

However, in the end, pop-ups really out weigh my dislikes about them. Simply because not only do they offer straight cut content for your new readers to read, it generally sparks sales and leads once you have some killer content already set up for your newer audience. I’ll start to talk about when pop-ups begin to harm sales.

Knowing When Pop-Ups Can Harm Sales

Once you have your first pop-up installed and you begin to think to use even more add-on pop-ups like under pop-ups, tab pop-ups, peel aways, whatever, that is really when you are starting to dilute your site’s reputation. Of course pop-ups can be really cool with their flashy sales pitch, however, the most pop-ups that I believe a general Blogger should use is about 1, and that can still be annoying already to viewers. Having your visitors to press about 3 ‘X’ buttons the moment they visit a page, is not really the way to go, and probably doesn’t fit Google’s idea of quality in their guidelines either.

In my opinion, Internet marketers and sales pages have a different stance on cleverly incorporating pop-ups to their advantage. They have a wide range of pop-ups that they can use at one time, without it really seeming “spammy.”

Exit pop-ups

Talk to a live speaker pop-up

Normal pop-ups

Peel Away Ads

But that is just my opinion on sales pitches and blogs. What do you guys think is the “excessive” point for a blog and a sales pitch in terms of using how many pop-ups? Think of John Chow’s blog for an example of a blog using more than one pop-up. Do you think it is overly aggressive or is it just perfect?

Sometimes, I don’t get along really well with web designers – for the good that is. We contradict more than agreeing on ideas in design concepts, UI, layout planning etc. Designers are very adamant people and they’re really very possessive about their work. We SEO’s are perceived to be people who downgrade their work, and thieves who steal their credits – and it’s true.

Sometimes we really do. After all that hard work with pixels, one fine a day an SEO jumps in, does his “magic tweaks” and the CEO is very happy for the SEO. Yeah just the SEO. So I think designers have all the rights to envy us haha

Anyways, in my opinion the best web designers are the ones who also take into consideration the SEO concepts while they design. It’s not difficult, and if you do that in first place right from the scratch, no SEO is going to rip off your design later.

So here goes my 101 SEO tips to Web Designers

Tip No. 1

- Study and read everything possible about advanced SEO techniques right from the start of your project.

Tip No. 2

- Always keep in mind that designs are cool, but what is equally important is the code that goes behind it.

Tip No. 3

- Always keep the code optimized, check for W3C compliance right from the start.

Tip No. 4

- Follow the basics, titles, meta tags are still important if not ignored, so keep space for them.

Tip No. 5

- Keep a horizontal directory structure, don’t go too deep with them, the search engines likes easy access to any file in the quickest time.

Tip No. 6

- When you name the files and directories, keep it descriptive and simple. Keep away numbers and weird characters.

Tip No. 7

- Images better be optimized for size, and quick loading. If you can’t keep away from loading that fancy graphic, mix it with the page elements. Don’t make them look blunt.

Tip No. 8

- Make room for a lot of text. As you already know, search engines love text, lot of them.

Tip No. 9

- Flash files are cool. And Search engines have found better ways to crawl and index them unlike old times, but that doesn’t mean you can use them extensively blocking access to relevant text info. So if you are keen on using flash, keep alternate text versions ready.

Tip No. 10

- If you have dynamic content, make sure you keep it simple and split to parts. Also, make sure you have optimized static pages for your primary keywords.

Tip No. 11

- Always do a bit of competition analysis. See what your competition is, if they have a minimalistic design you don’t want to have a flash design, and leaving no room for improvement. Stalk your competition.

Tip No. 12

- Many web designers make the mistake of using a template through out the site and many a times this includes repeating the same title or similar page titles all over the site. Get over this, use descriptive page titles everywhere possible.

Tip No. 13

- Keep the page titles to 65 characters or less in count. Nothing wrong is going over it, but you could avoid a spill over.

Tip No. 14

- The meta descriptions are supposed to be mini ad-copies that should be descriptive of what the page is about. Don’t keep them the same for all pages.

Tip No. 15

- Keep the JavaScript away from navigation menu. Navigation menu is a good resource for gathering information about what your site is about, and using javascript can make it less crawlable by the engines.

Tip No. 16

- Use CSS based navigation if you want fancy effects. Pretty much all of the javasript stuff can be done on CSS, in a more search engines friendly way.

Tip No. 17

- Use the header tags effectively. Don’t limit yourself with H1 and H2. Use H3, H4 and beyond and use it wisely on the page.

Tip No. 18

- Use strong tags wisely. Don’t let them stand out like bolded text, within the content, style it down to show up as normal text within the content.

Tip No. 19

- Use the footer effectively. Of course, you can use it for all your TOS/Legal stuff, but also use it to link to the important pages on your site. It helps.

Tip No. 20

- Identify the most important pages on your site as seen by the search engines, and leverage them to promote other resource pages.

Tip No. 21

- Link well internally, and use descriptive anchor text instead of “click here” and “check this out” like phrases.

Tip No. 22

- Use al tags, Title tags on images and use descriptive filenames. They help search engines find more information about them.

Tip No. 23

- Use a SEO friendly layout, at least one that does not block or hinder the crawling of crucial areas on your site.

Tip No. 24

- Find out the important areas on your website, like the content rich area in the center and keep them above the fold. Not only helps the engines but the user as well.

Tip No. 25

- When designing dynamic pages, try to stick to pages with descriptive URLs and not the one with session ids and other parameters. Google can still get it’s head around them, but its good if you can stick to SE friendly, descriptive ones.

Tip No. 26

- When dealing with CMS’s there might be instances where you have to keep the page URL the default way with the extra parameters. Use URL rewrite mod to re write the most important pages URL’s to SE friendly form.

Tip No. 27

- When using AJAX, load the modules in parts split across pages and not in one single page. Although this defeats the purpose of using AJAX in the first place, you might be able to provide more information to the search engines using other on site SEO parameters.

Tip No. 28

- If you want to block any particular area on your site from the reach of Google spiders, use either Robots.txt commands, or else set up a login access. This is the safest way to block crawlers from spidering vital information.

Tip No. 29

- Keep the meta descriptions descriptive and precise to about 150 characters.

Tip No.30
- Use an SEO simulator to test your design through out the process. And make sure no part of the design blocks/hinders any part of information being accessible to the search engines.

So essentially, web designers got to ensure that while their designs are unique and eye-catchy, making sure that there is enough information available in the form of text is always recommended, and leveraging this information by using all the possible SEO metrics in a healthy and balanced way to cater to the search engines is the right way of designing a search engine friendly web design.

Having said that, please remember that there is no right and wrong way of doing things. You got to understand your requirements, your resources and make a tailor made strategy that works for your niche. And that’s what is really important.

If you suck at SEO or don’t know how to optimize websites for search engines, it’s okay. There’s no need to feel left out. There are hundreds of people out there who don’t know a thing about SEO and most wont even know what it stands for.

I remember having a chat with this guy from UK and he asked me about getting traffic. I asked him, “Do you know about SEO?”, “Who? the Senior Executive Officer?” he replied. For such a guy, it’s hard to explain what SEO is and how it can benefit you and your business.

This is not only for those who do not know about SEO, in fact this is also for the people who do know about it. Let me just say: Would you be able to rank a domain you just bought for a keyword within 4-5 days.

If you’re a whitehat SEO believer I could expect a no. So where does you SEO go then? What if the keyword you’re targeting is time-sensitive. I mean, you just bought a domain yesterday (15th June) and you want to rank for keyword targeting America Day (July 4th), it is next to impossible to rank for keywords in 2 weeks.

So what I’m trying to tell is that keep you options open. Look for alternatives to SEO. I’m not talking about pay-per-click ads or traffic from social bookmarking websites.

Have you ever heard of the term indirect organic traffic? I’m sure you haven’t, because I just made that up. But what it will reveal to you might just change the ways you get traffic.

Yesterday I was talking to this guy who just received his $600 cheque from ShareAsale which was what he earned in a total of 2 weeks. I got him to tell me his marketing strategies and I was surprised when he told me that he didn’t know a thing about SEO and never used any PPC program.

Basically, this guy did not spend a cent and he made money with even les knowledge than me. Of course, he had his website which isn’t even indexed by Google as of now (around 3 weeks old). Curious to know his strategy right?

He joined a forum related to his niche. He spent 1 week gaining authority in a forum. Posting, answering, asking and helping like crazy. So once you have authority you obviously have a great deal of newbies asking you questions. So all he did was refer people to his website and after 2 weeks he makes 23 sales and makes approximately $600. Not bad eh?

The story doesn’t end here. I’ve been doing this for 3 months now and have gotten traffic to website which have been sitting in the Google Sandbox for around 3 months now. I will write a post sometime this week illustrating how you can get the best out of no SEO and let it prove to be more effective.

The fact is, I don’t trust or believe half of the SEO fluff I read online. Sometimes, I go through ridiculously absurd articles with information which is wrong. Though they might be some attempt of a link bait. The fact is it just makes them look a lot more stupid, not to mention some highly honored SEO websites who are making a lot of money on the internet. Talking about old techniques to find the keyword competition, this reminds me of the days when I was 15 years old.

Please note that the technique I’ll be mentioning on this post is not an advice from a professional, neither am I guaranteeing you any results. It is just a way which proved me good results, and as you read you’ll find that it is in fact more sensible and logical than the ordinary way of doing so and will surely help you while making money with niche picking.

So when you received your ‘SEO lessons’, you were told to just google the keyword and see the results google displays for it and there you have it. But as far as I believe this will not find you your actual competition.

In most cases you can outrank 95% of the websites just by putting the keyword in your title. Reason being, those websites are mostly not even about that keyword. If your website is in google’s index and you use a word such as ‘make money on the internet’ anywhere on your page. There you have it, you’re in Google SERPs. You might be at page number 893, but still you’re in the results right?

Hence, you need to be sure of your real competition. We’ll assume that make money is the keyword in this example. This isn’t going to be long, so just bear with me for a few lines:

Open Google.com/webhp.

Type inanchor:”make money” and record the number of results shown.

Type intitle:”make money” and record the number of results shown.

Add the 2 figures (Figure 1 + Figure 2).

The result is your actual competition.

Talking about accuracy, your actual competition will be even lower. Don’t give me that puzzled look. You might think I’ve gone too far against your present knowledge but the reason why this is exaggerated is simple. Most of the times you check competition for your keyword, the results in both would have about 40-50% common results.

For example: X is a website about tennis shoes. When it is optimized for the keyword, it will have the term ‘tennis shoes’ in it’s title as well as it’s anchor texts and url. So when you do both of the searches, the same website will show up.

I wouldn’t really like to get into long discussions because everyone has their own ways. In SEO, there is no such technique which is engraved on a rock. This technique of finding keyword competition is fully tested by me and it works great. Since this is my way, you’re most welcome to follow my way and I will lead you to online success and help you to make money.

I’m sick of people roaming here and there looking for ways to climb up the SERPs but they cannot even break the 100 mark. Well, in case you didn’t read the title then NEWS ALERT: I’m on Google Page 1, which means I’m making money on internet. I practice what I preach and I did not apply any rocket science to get there, it is as easy as eating noodles with chopsticks; or a little more easier. Before I talk I’ll show proof, so please stay calm and don’t break your keyboard with excitement because I will clearly share how to get Google page 1 with an easy technique. Please click on the pictures to zoom in. So here goes:

And again:

That’s only 2, I have more than 7 keywords on Google page 1 and about 15 keywords on google page 2. All this significant change happened in the span of 1 month! Also note that I only work for high trafficked keywords, before which you’ll need to find www.earn-money.net to work on and make money.

What do you think, are you in a fantasy world? Am I going to give you the exact formula to success in a few lines in one post for free? Ok, don’t get disheartened because I might. In fact, I’ll tell you the exact thing. This is the ultimate formula for my Google page 1 for those keywords!

Anyone of you remember my review on how to get www.earn-money.net with that free membership membership website? I told you to join it right, but now you’ve missed the boat and me and other users are going to make a fortune off it. Jokes apart, you still have time to gain access to that service.

I will not just into the details this time, this is just a ‘woohoo’ or ‘in your face’ post for those who doubted my recommendation or wanted to see if it works. So folks here it is, you can still click here to join their system and get loads of backlinks to get google page 1, or you could die trying. This is the real deal!

I’ll soon be having a more detailed post about their service and start posting articles to get loads of backlinks, till then join their system or read a little more about them on my post about how www.earn-money.net

P.S. This is the outcome of just 1 month, you can imagine how many keywords I’ll have on the page 1 and the positions I’ll have for them in 3 months!

In my last post about SEO, I discussed how SEO wasn’t the only thing left to get organic traffic from. Many people did not share the same views as mine. I accept that, because what I’m going to tell you people is something that you may or may not already know.

In my case, I wanted to figure out a solution to the problem of having my website sit at level zero when it is in the Google Sandbox. Practically there is a 99% chance for you to get thrown into the sandbox, you may be quite lucky if you escape it.

During that 6 – 12 months in no-man zone sandbox, you get no traffic from search engines. You know, ideas come and go. By the time your website escapes from the sandbox, you might have lost interest in that niche.

This happens a lot of times and there is a very practical way of getting out of this situation without having to rely on traffic from social bookmarking websites. They say: At times, examples explain better than definitions. So I’ll also sum it up on an example.

You choose to enter the niche as an electrician’s affiliate. You just start a website and you try to rank for the keyword ‘wiring management’. Then you discover that after 2 weeks it got sand-boxed. Now, we all know that search engine traffic is the best converting.

An alternative could be to use PPC, but I have a better idea. By doing a simple search on Google I found that it has some competition by the fact that the first ranking website is a company, they have their website’s homepage ranking number 1, plus the website has sitelinks which makes it almost impossible for us to rank number 1 without having our website compete for it.

So my strategy is, if you can’t get the first position then get the 2nd, 3rd and 4th position. I’m not talking about each one individually. I’m talking about getting all three positions. Next you go to ezine articles and write 1 article. That’s right, 1 article which you think would be highly targeted for the keyword which in this case is wiring management.

Next create a squidoo lens and write a review of the affiliate. This will be used to generate direct sales for yourself and now you will put link to your main website on both the article and the squidoo lens in nofollow. Why? This is where my indirect organic traffic theory comes into play.

I say, use your main website as a middle way between customer landing and the merchant’s website. So basically, in both the article and the lens you will encourage the visitors to go to your website from where they will go to the merchants website.

This will lower your CTR on your main website by 1-2% but this technique is highly effective. I’m currently on holidays, but when I come back I will detailed article on all services that you can use and achieve the best out of it. Once your website is out of the sandbox, remove the nofollow from the links and your website jumps directly into the top 30. As I said SEO isn’t everything, there are many other ways to achieve the same aims you have for a page you’re trying to rank for SEO.

Moreover, ranking for a keyword using ezinearticles or squidoo is 10 times more easier than having your website’s page rank itself on the SERPS. If your website is already out of the sandbox then you can use this technique to dominate the top 10 results and maximize your level of conversions. So what do you think about this technique?
